I want one of these. More detailed plans, as well as variations, are at this site. These are very similar to the ones used at Plimoth.

Many, many more useful plans for various medieval furniture & equipment can be found here.

Also, I am seriously envious of this gentle's collection of clay pots and dishes. (Okay, I'm also jealous of all the ( Read more... )

If/when we get around to making some version of the wheelbarrow I have a lathe in my basement for finishing off the axel. A combo of the fence and basket barrow from your second link might be most usefull, as then we can ccarry oversize things, and then put the basket on for smaller stuff. Plus the basket would be lighter than solid wood sides for a box. Given the issue with a basket barrow might be finding a basket big enough to be actually useful.
I have no ideas on how to manage the tire.

I share your envy at the cooking pots. Having two fire pits, one for burning wood to make coals, and one to cook on coals is a very good plan. What's the feasibility of getting a coal table? Using the square welded one maybe?

I'm going to go through his site later gleaning notes for recipes/techniques.

My grandfather has a small woodshop in his basement, but no lathe as far as I know. Re: the baskets, we can make wicker sides if we want, possibly even individually-removable wicker sides.

And regarding the tire, well, I happen to know this friendly local blacksmith... ;)

On the subject of a coal table, we can make a sand-box, basically. All you need are some sides & some sand to hold and dissipate the heat. Otherwise, if you want a more complicated one, you might be able to work out some sort of trade or agreement with Ekk to have him weld/forge you one.

Also, I want to go through the wheelbarrows for a design that can be sat on. I've got enough single-use items.
