*draws sparkly hearts (and protective sigils) around you*
I am thinking all good thoughts for your folks, and for you finding a good new living arrangement. And very happy to hear that the four-legged critters are still making you happy! (Did I tell you before that my dad took the photo in my icon?)
I totally agree about the book/movie of S&S.
I've moved on to The Wire, because everyone says it's the best TV show ever, and so naturally I must investigate.
As I say to everyone, it starts slow and builds. You kind of have to make it well into S2 before it really works its magic on you. Although, S1 is incredibly good, I think it takes time for a viewer to get attached, because there are so many characters and their stories take a long time to come together.
But the truth of the matter is I love to write, and I have fun every year. So, there you have it.
YAYS.
ETA: Oh, yeah, and I keep forgetting! Would you be around for a short visit (maybe dinner?) near the end of November?

oh a baby! Nice pic! Yeah, so far there is no slacking off of the horsey obsession. ha!

It's the only one of her books I have only read once. *shrug*

All good to know. I've seen the first 3 eps so far and like it although I can see that it might take some time to get really into it.

Oh jeez, I sure hope so. Kind of hard to predict right now, but I would think I would be free. meep!
I know how you feel about parents never throwing things away. I will never understand why my mom keeps so much stuff and then keeps on buying things. Glad the move went well though.
Yes The Wire is the best show on TV! It definitely becomes more and more masterful as it goes along but even from the beginning it totally hooked me in with the goodness. I'd love to hear what you think about it.
And hey, if you ever want to hang out sometime, let me know :)
Oooh, which narrator did you have for Emma and Mansfield Park? My personal favourite is Juliet Stevenson; she's got such a beautiful speaking voice, and great range when it comes to playing the different characters! I haven't managed to get my hands on the Lindsay Duncan version of Pride and Prejudice yet, but I've heard her narrate something else (one of Antonia Fraser's books, I think?), and she was great.
Emma was read by Donada Peters, and she was great. Mansfield Park was read by Flo Gibson, and she took a bit to get used to (at first I couldn't hear much of a difference in tone between characters, and her over all voice is so wiskey/smokey that it was distracting), but by the end of the book I was so into it and I guess I got used to her because it all ended up working beautifully.
