Chapter III:

Nino flinched.

When the man hopped onto the bed and pulled his arm away from the window, his touch was so warm and gentle that it was wrong.

It was dark so he could not see his face. But the man's hair was a light colour. And he was lanky but definitely had a bigger frame than Nino.

"No, no, no, Kazu-chan." The man said, "we can't have you break the window."

Nino saw him reach for his right hand again, and he was too shocked to even move. The man unwrapped the vest around his fist in painfully slow motion and then moved to stroke the bend in his palm below his fingers.

"You'll be hurt again." The man whispered. Nino found himself shivering from the voice involuntarily. His hand slightly shaking in the man's grip. He was touching the place where he broke his palm doing a backflip at the age of twelve.

"Let go." Nino swallowed. "Let me go."

His captor smiled sweetly at his words, and shook his head.

The next morning, Nino woke up with a chain wrapped and locked around his waist. He could tell it was new because it was gleaming in cold silver. The lock on it was the old fashioned kind that can only be opened with a key. The other side of the chain was attached to a pipe at the corner of the room. The chain was long enough to let him roam around the room, but he did not have to yank on it to know that it was sturdy.

Too sturdy.

And the window was barred from the outside too. He could see the shadow of the iron bars from the other side now, making the room dimmer. The man had done all this while he was asleep. He did not even remember how he had gotten to sleep after last night.

No, Nino did not retaliate. Something prevented him from fighting his captor. Something told him that he was scared. He was freaked out. Everything the man portrayed was soft and mellow. But something about the man made him dangerous.

The man had no intention of harming him, but something tells Nino that whatever mess he was in right now, it's worse. He walked around the room dragging the heavy chain and looked at the his pictures on the walls. There were posters, or cut-out from magazines. But what made his heart skip a beat, was that there were also photographs, obviously taken in secret, with him unaware. Only him.

Nino stopped in front of a photo. It looked like it was taken during SK's trip to Osaka; he traced the spot where Satoshi's face was cut-out. He remember this particular moment. It was the first time Satoshi took the initiative to hold his hand as they strolled down the street.

His eyes burned.

It was the fourth day. He wonder if Satoshi had called. He wonder if he was worried. No, he decided, Satoshi would be too confused and would not know what to do. Because he was like that. Because he needed him. Because Satoshi was always dependant on Nino.

His knees gave out.

His shoulders shook and he trembled.

He missed him.

He missed him.

He missed him.

And all the thoughts melted into liquid and fell from his eyes.

Nino sobbed.

The metal door creaked open once more, but he was too absorbed to care.

Nino felt arms gathering him into an awkward embrace.

Through his sobs, he could hear the man say, "Shhh, Kazu-chan. Don't cry. Aiba-chan's here, so don't cry."

And he cried harder.

This man had no intention of letting him leave.
