[ Slipped between the pages of Todd's current poetry notebook]

I almost wonder if it's too soon, after everything last month... if that's even over, I know they never found... well. Maybe we should just be grateful for the time we have, after all, this is what passes for a quiet month so far.

Who knows how long that will last. With everything that ( Read more... )

I would really love to be involved. I'd like to have a role but if not I think I could be helpful as crew. It could be that the type of theater I'm used to is very different than this, but I suspect not, and I was practically raised in a theater.

Really? Well, if you've got experience that would be really great, and so far I don't think there's too much competition for roles! If you've never read the play I'd be happy to loan you a copy of it.

Not a great deal of experience actually doing anything other than helping put on little drawing-room productions with friends. I did, however, spend plenty of time observing, asking lots of annoying questions, and generally being underfoot. My mother was an actress.

It would be great if you could lend me your copy--I've definitely never read it. I'm Alester Siddons, by the way.

[ooc: Alester is going to love Wilde.]

It's nice to meet you, Alester. I'm Neil Perry.

We put on A Midsummer Night's Dream last year, and though most of our cast were newcomers, they worked really hard and it was fantastic. But having people with any experience at all, really, is quite exciting.

There's a small bookshop near the Square-- Bilton and Scaggs, if you drop by sometime I'll lend you a copy. I work there.

Would you...need a set builder?

Well, I suppose we will-- so far we haven't picked a place, just yet, and in the past we've done... well, rather minimal work on the sets, just because it's a volunteer effort, you know. But if you're interested, if you're willing, I'm sure we'll have some work to be done.

Barring a 24/7 job I haven't gotten yet? It'd be a nice thing to do. You know, volunteering, doing something with my time. I have construction experience. But, not really...set building? Can't be that hard, can it?

I don't imagine it would be. Once we have a better idea of where and when we're going to put this on, I'll let you know-- in the meantime, you might want to read the play if you haven't and think about what we might be able to manage for scenery?

You're very much in need of more of a cast.

I know. Well, we haven't decided on a date so we do have time, and I haven't really been doing much to recruit. Last month was just so... overwhelming, with people going missing and all that.

I suppose you do have quite a bit of time between now and whenever you do decide to put on the play, yes. Still, it would be good to assemble the cast.

I'm working on it!

Have you had any thoughts on who you'd like to play, Cain?

I'd still like to work backstage. When do you plan on performing?

[ooc: P.S. If y'all need to rope anyone else into this, Penny can't say no to anyone ever.]

I'm not sure, really-- it'll depend on how quickly we can fill all the roles, how much help people need learning their lines, that sort of thing.

No chance I could convince you to be in the play, Justin?

[ooc; /keeps this in mind >3]

You could convince me.

Well, so far we've only filled two of the five male roles, and I'm not even certain which ones.

Well, let's see, there are nine roles, and three of us signed up to act, which means we're a third of the way to a full cast. So I do think we're well on our way, but we're going to need a few more people to fill parts, yes.

I don't think it's going badly, considering how little we've really spoken about it on the Network.

Have you decided on which role you'd like to play, yet?

Well, if there's one lesson we all learn quickly around here, it's the importance of being flexible, as well as earnest.

And, er, I've gone over it a few times, and I think I'd like to try my hand at Gwendolen! She seems like a fun role to try.

I do think that's one of the benefits of life in the City. Learning to prepare for the unexpected.

Excellent! I'll make a note of it.
