♕ |[65]| Some are plain lucky-- we ourselves among them

I'm always glad to see this, but it's a doubly welcome change from the past week. I didn't really try to leave the City while it was... moving, I suppose you could say, but from everything I read and saw on the Network it didn't seem like the other worlds were any safer than the City ( Read more... )

all's well that ends well, curse [affected], stories of the city, fourth wall destruction, in love with life

It is...very kind of you...to greet us. What can you tell me about this...City?

About the City? It might take longer to explain than you'll be here, really. It's a place in between worlds-- a lot of people from different worlds live here, but sometimes things like this happen and a lot more people come, but only for a couple of days.

I see. And my crew, are they here too?

Spock here, Captain. My communicator's efficiency has been compromised and the Enterprise is out of range. Communication is possible only through native channels. Present channel belongs to a Mister Neil Perry, human.

[Sounding just a tad miffed.]

I would have introduced myself if I'd had the chance.

[...Oh.]

My apologies for the intrusion, Mister Neil Perry.

It's all right. I know it's confusing getting stuck here, especially at first.

Stuck? To my knowledge, we beamed down to an M-class planet to investigate signs of primitive life.

...Sensor readings may have been incorrect.

I'm not sure I can really explain it.

Spock! Finally! Have you been in communication with anyone else on the crew?

It was difficult to find an open channel, Captain. Had I had the means to contact you sooner, I would have.

The Enterprise is out of range and I'm receiving no other responses.

If Mr. Perry is correct, then the Enterprise is probably far out of range indeed.

Mr. Perry, is there a way to leave this place?

Wait, is the Enterprise the, uh, the spaceship?

There's no way to leave on your own, but really you shouldn't worry-- I don't think you'll be here more than a day or two.

Yes, the Enterprise is a Starfleet vessel.

The Captain of the Enterprise used to be here-- you wouldn't have missed him, time doesn't move for people at home while they're here-- but he left. A year ago, maybe? I'm not sure. I only met him once or twice.
