Faaaaaavourite part! Who cares about the filler part of this chapter, I love the whole headache scene ♥
Of course, the part where Wentworth helps Anne into the carriage is also my favourite part of the novel so perhaps this wasn't exactly surprising, but I loved your modern-day equivalent of it. Lisbon is prone to suffer from headaches anyway and Jane would of course notice. It proves he's not indifferent, he still cares and is still very much aware of her.
I know that if people were to remember anything from the book it would probably be the letter, but this moment has always been so significant to me.
HEE. Yes. Even when I was writing this part of my brain was going, "Stupid boring case bit... AT LEAST I HAVE SEMI-PLANNED THIS OUT THIS TIME. Oh look. Now Jane gets to be sweet. Yay."
Jane was never indifferent. Poor fool. Ah well, he figures it out soon enough.
I've always remembered that scene from the book. Always. It is part of what ties into my Sophy Croft had suspicions theory. (Really, my theory is just because I *want* her to have suspicions.)
