I think this prologue works perfectly. Especially since you're going back and forth in time. It's a technique that they tend to overuse on Castle, but in this case I think it works. Especially given that everything in the next few chapters works up to this.
I like seeing how you decided to go this route with the story.

Yeah, I've never actually done a timejump before this, I don't think. Or at least, I don't usually do it. But it did work in this particular one.
