Today is not the day for anger. It should be a day of mourning, a day of remembrance. And still...

I am angry. I'm angry that the memory of the people who died on this day, six years ago, has been exploited, and bastardized, and made an excuse for two wars: one against a nation, and one against an idea. As it turns out, they died for a cause...but ( Read more... )

I saw that poll of whether Americans believe what the general reported to congress or not. I really don't know what is going on over there, but I know he could be misrepresenting things and I would never know it. That leaves the actual soldiers and what few media actually go over there to give us insight.

At what point IS enough enough?

David Petraeus was my commanding general when I arrived at Ft. Campbell in 2004, then a major general. He graduated from Ft. Campbell as a major general to brigadier general in the summer of 2004 and went to Iraq to serve as an upper level commanding general. As you know he's now the uppermost commander of American forcers in Iraq. As you also know, we cannot trust big media. But I can tell you that this man is doing what he realistically can to instill independence in Iraq and to get troops home. 30,000 troops withdrawn is a HUGE, HUGE amount of troops, don't doubt it! Yes, according to his proposal 130,000 troops will remain in Iraq by June 2008, but you must understand what a leap this is toward withdrawing from Iraq. Is it a solution in itself? No! But it is a great step in the right direction. Is this man concerned with deceiving you? I suggest that the media is FAR more concerned with deceiving you than David Petraeus. Do you think that soldiers (or a soldier's soldier) want to be in Iraq any longer than necessary? By the same ( ... )
