RIGHT??? I want to write fic just from that, about what Danny's thinking as Steve slips towards the edge, about how it's not supposed to be possible to see someone else's life flash before your eyes but he's seeing it anyway, a thousand moments he could have said everything, the desperate howling wail of too late that lessens but doesn't fade entirely as Steve comes to a stop.

And Steve's obviously out, it's so, so clear that he can't hear Danny, and the only other person up here is a corpse, so it's not like anyone's listening. But he can't quite stop yelling Steve's name, because if he stops he's going to have to figure out the next step, and he's not really sure what that is--if it's jumping down there after him, if it's calling HPD, and does he even get cell service up here and Christ, shit, the sound of his voice is too much, desperate even to his own ears, and he aches for Steve to lift his head, tell him to shut the fuck up already, Danno, god.
