This piece is too sad and lovely and hurty for a keyboard flail, but that doesn't mean it's any less deserving.

It's yanked on my heartstrings and makes me weep, just a little bit, the way all lost possibilities do.

Wonderfully written, your talent is evident in every single word.

Wow, this is lovely. I like so much how you've handled Helga and Rowena--I think it's an accurate picture of how being really smart often goes. And I love the depth and beauty you've given Helga, making her the object of envy, when canon tends to leave out Hufflepuffs when it hands out desirable characteristics. I always feel vaguely sorry for them, and so I was worried about how a story with Helga would turn out. You handled this masterfully!

And I LOVE the part at the very end where you look down through history and follow what would have happened if Rowena had been able to follow her instincts here. Again: MASTERFUL. It gives this little story a moment of deep resonance against the canon world we know.
