This reminds me of the time I read the libertarian adventure novel Alongside Night, only to realize to my astonishment that a large chunk of it was set at my junior-high summer camp. Once I grokked that the author (based on his name) must be the brother of the owner of the camp, I could identify every location in it. (Made all the more amusing by the fact that, in this near-future SF novel, it had been turned into a high-security prison, an editorial comment if ever there was one...)
Oh, and the reason this came to mind: said summer camp was just outside Pittstown, just over the border from Williamstown. Ah, beautiful Camp Mohawk, native land of the spoiled yuppie child...
