Have secured garbage cans, lawn tarp, fire pit, and others in the shed. (So much more room in the shed this year!) Have left the chairs and table on the back deck, but turned over to present lower profile, and into the corner between the house walls to be more sheltered from wind ( Read more... )

Connecticut's governor, a bit hazy on the old geography or the storm track, perhaps, suggested that coastal residents should visit friends further North. "Just pack up the car and go for a visit."
I'd like to ride out the storm at Melville Keep or at Maison Dragonbair, for the companionship, but I suspect that if we lose power, so will you.

Read through a political lens (I'm currently reading a history of the Congress of Vienna), that sounds like "I'm taking you down with me!" brinkmanship, but I know what you mean.

We'll all just have to hunker down and ride it out wherever we are, and check in when all's clear.
