I've been fascinated by their commercials as well--and think of Sonic the Hedgehog each time. The caramel iced latte reminded me of a drink I heard being ordered at Dunkin Donuts this morning: Start with a large Milky Way hot chocolate, top with whipped cream, then pour (what she described as) the mocha and caramel syrups you use for lattes) over the whipped cream. Must have been about two cups of sugar in that there drink!
IMHO you wasted your trip to Sonic if you only got the drinks. We go to one in TX every time we visit. Their onion rings are _the best_! Real onion rings fried in real batter. I also frequently get the foot long chili cheese dog with extra onions. Yum. Though the foot long hot dogs get skinnier and skinnier. Course, it's also a nostalgia thing for me - we used to stop at Sonic when visiting relatives in OK. Their burgers are quite good too.
Had we but known we had a source of experience to consult! Bear in mind that this Sonic was barely one hour into a 13-hour trip, and we had already breakfasted just before setting out--no one was hungry for real food yet. If there's ever a next time, we'll know better.
