Interesting take and well written story. I can't imagine Gwen would actually be this calm though, but perhaps her professional training would take over. PTSD - I always think that if real people experienced just a portion of what the TW people have experienced, they'd go completely bonkers. They could all use a few years of counseling!

No kidding! Thanks for the comment. I'm so glad to learn I wasn't alone in thinking this. I figured Gwen was the one who was calm because of her police training. Owen might have been able to calm fast enough but I suspect that ability dried up some when he started being an alien pathologist instead of a doctor treating humans.

But now you've planted a plot bunny in my mind. Hmmmm.....Torchwood Therapist. What a title!

Heeee- that could be interesting. Maybe UNIT is making them hire one, like after the events of Exit Wounds or Stol Earth/Jrny's End? Or it's someone from UNIT? I can't imagine Jack doing that voluntarily. Then the therapist meets with everyone individually and you get backstory from everyone (ach, not as interesting w/out Owen and Tosh, bleh, sob).

Is that Portland in your header?

Yes, yes, this is just the way it should happen (even though I love the angst and drama stories). Of course Ianto is suffering from PTSD - that's painfully clear. And I can understand Jack's reactions too - there's a freaking Cyberman in the Hub and Ianto put it there! But once the adrenaline wore off, Jack should certainly be experienced enough to recognize what was going on in Ianto's head.

They do have grief counselors who work with the police in the UK. In fact, I recall watching an excellent episode of "Touching Evil" in which the serial murderer the cops were looking for turned out to be the grief counselor they were calling for the victim's families!

I figured there must be, but wasn't sure if they were called something else. And I'm also pretty sure confidentiality for police related grief counselors and victims' advocates must be a stringent on your side of the Big Blue Water as it is on our side.

Thanks for the comment. I love that people can see what I was aiming for; it means my writing is good enough. YAYZ!

LOL, I'm not British - I just watch waaaaay too much British television, and read books by British authors. I live in Pennsylvania!

Regarding confidentiality for grief counselors and victim's advocates, I have no idea, but yes - I think it's likely.

I almost always love Gwen, even when she's gone all bleeding-heart on us.

Thanks for the comment. It makes me want to keep writing.

Thoughtful story. I had similar thoughts in my post-Cyberwoman story, which focuses on the stages of grief. http://crabby-lioness.livejournal.com/4748.html

Yeah, I see that in your story. It reflects a more human way for the situation to resolve, and I appreciate it.

Thanks for the comment. I really ought to write more. LOL!
