I am obsessed. Obsessed with quilting. I don't know why exactly, that this craft is my sole expression of creativity right now. Perhaps it is the sentimentality of doing what I think of as Mom and Grandma's specialty. Perhaps I feel so out of control with Liam off on deployment and out of phone reach that I am offsetting that feeling of

quilting is more than eye candy

It's the meat and potatoes of this family's crafting. To me, it's the essence of making something of comfort out of bits of leftover/scrap fabrics. It's the having total control of the color, shape, texture groupings and not having to wonder if it's good enough, because if I like it - it IS good enough. Carry on fabric artists o' mine.

You should give it another try - I learned how to make a tote bag last fall after not sewing since I as kid, and now I'm sewing all the time. Simple projects are good - craftster.org has lot of tutorials and patterns.
