She's really overlooked, and I don't know why. But she's brilliant. OMG, the Lady Eve is possibly my favourite movie of hers. And you should definitely check out Double Indemnity. It's probably her best.

Wow Gem, these postings are works of art!

Again, someone I know of (through The Colby's), but have never seen her in a film.

Thanks Rach. They did take me ages, but I'm not so sure I'd go as far as calling them a work of art! More like procrastination for not wanting to start my year 7 reports.

Barbara Stanwyck is fabulous, but she's not as great as Kath. But then no one is, IMO. Didn't you watch The Thornbirds?

Who are the Colby's??

The Colby's was a spin off from Dynasty, possibly best not revisited.

Yet again, I am the only person on the planet who hasn't either read the Thorn Birds or seen it on TV

oh ok, I never watched Dynasty. You should see the Thornbird! It's a bit dated now, mind you. My mother has the boxed set and I borrowed it from her.

I only really know Barbara from The Thorn Birds, I remember it being rather 'racy' when I watched it when I was younger. I really must look out for one of her movies on TCM.

I haven't got around to watch that yet! I have about 30 film recorded off Sky that I haven't had time to watch yet, there just aren't enough hours in the day.

And you're so right - she is ALWAYS ADORABLE, even when she played an Evil Bitch from Hell (read: Phyllis Dietrichson... and Martha Ivers... and others, haha). I love her so much!

Ball of Fire is my favorite Stanwyck comedy. I don't know. There is something about her easy chemistry with Gary Cooper that makes it so special.
