Saw this after ages. I just love the song, and the raw earthy quality of Sukhwinder SIngh's voice. Its Singing Saturday Ya'all. Its a modern fantasy version of an age old love story Heer Ranjha. The Romeo & Juliet of India. Centuries old.

Wow. That was nice. *g* Are they singing in Hindi? Not that I know Hindi--in fact I did not understand a single word--but I liked the melody and how the scenes were filmed.

Three weekends ago I caught "The Guide" on TV. I was told that it was a movie that came out in 1965. I think Dev Anand and Waheeda Rehman had great chemisty. Waheeda is gorgeous!

I hope you don't mind if I posted this, I found this especially lovely:

Hiii. Lol. Waheeda's gorgeous isnt she. And she has graced with age so she looks fabulous even today.

I hope you don't mind if I posted this OMG No way do I mind.

The 1st song is actually in Punjabi. Its one of the sub religions/ races in India. The music has sufi influences.

They showed The Guide on TV? Cool. So where you based out of. I'm not sure they even air anything Indian?
Its Ok if you dont know Hindi. Thats the thing about music, you dont need to know the language. I love spanish/ latino music, but I barely know 10 words in the language.

I'm from the Philippines but I'm based in Singapore right now. Singapore has three main races: Chinese, Malay and Indian. There is an entire TV channel on free TV that's devoted to Indian shows. On weekends they show full-length movies, from both Southern India and Bollywood. The first wave of Indians who migrated here spoke Tamil, but many Indian residents speak Hindi, Bengali, and other Indian languages.

So the first song is in Punjabi? Cool! I have a friend from India who grew up in Delhi but whose parents hail from Punjab. I wonder if her father had a crush on Waheeda back in the day? :)

Every now and then I listen to the Gypsy Kings. :)

Once we had a cookfest at my Indian friend's house. After dinner we sang songs to guitar accompaniment. There was a love song in Hindi that I found really, really romantic. Hmmm. I'll ask my friend about it and get back to you--he told me the title but now I can't remember.

I like the Gypsy Kings too. And Indian Cookfest. I like the sound of that. As long as you had kebabs. Lol.

P.S. I'm sure my dad had a crush on Waheeda but todate he's never admitted it.
