Amen to that, all of that. Yeah, I delete those. I despise spiritual spam.

Unfortunately, as you say, it's not the spam nature of it but the inherent bad theology, which is prevalent from emails to songs to prayer concern time. This idea that God intercedes for us when we pray right/have enough faith/forward enough emails/God feels like it is just utter crap, and doesn't hold water. All it does is blame the victim when things go badly-- you must not have prayed hard enough. I don't think God works that way at all. Whether it's free will or God limiting God's own self, or weakness or what, I don't know and it doesn't much matter. I believe that God works in and through us and struggles alonside us, but God is not our little fairygodmother. I could rant for a while about this, so I'll put a lid on it here.

And I'll say Amen to your Amen. :)

Yeah...I find spiritual forwards to be the most annoying of all of them.

Peace.

Didn't you know? God doesn't work in mysterious ways - he works through email forwards! Just be happy you live in the age of the Internet. Imagine all those people denied God's presence, because they hadn't invented hotmail yet? Tsk tsk.
