This reminds me of me getting annoyed with some 1st year law students (Well, law/arts students) at the back of the bus. One was like "oh, I really want to do my double major in arts", and the other was all "you don't need it, you'll never use it". So I turned around and said "Well, if you really enjoy it, then you really should do a double major in your arts degree". To which the dumb chick said "She doesn't need it. She's doing *Law*" as though this somehow made arts incredibly trivial, and that anyone who wasn't doing law was a lesser human being. So I said "Who gives a fuck? If you're just doing your Law degree to get a job, you're doing it for all the wrong reasons*" and then they were very quiet

From experience as an English and Philos double major, if you love both but can't do both, you can always make your English thesis philosophical. It doesn't have to be officially under 'Philosophy', and it will be one kick-arse thesis at the end. Or so I think.
On another note, I miss the Rev. Are you attending the Philos Colloquium at Murdoch? Nov 30, I think.
On another note, honours at UWA will be the best year of your life and also the one in which you will have collected more suicide options. I don't know about other unis, but I'd push you to do it :)
