Given the quality of the machine I built, I've been rather anxious to try it out on a top-end game. I couldn't be bothered to install HL2 with all of it's associated cruft (gg Steam), so UT2k4 it was. I installed it last Saturday and was seriously impressed ( Read more... )

It's nice when you get to experiance the game anew eh?

I recently built my new computer and all I can say is holy CRAP..

WoW gives me about 60-70 fps in Lower Black Rock Spire. I was in AV last night and lets just say I was a force to be very afraid of. And this is with all settings set to the top.

If you want to stress your system the best, get on Oblivion good game with just amazing graphics. It will give you the best test of your preformance.

yeah, what's going on with AMD? I'm looking at CPUs since I havn't upgraded my computer since I bought it 4.5 years ago (new stick of ram, DVD Rom, and a new HD, but everything else is stock) and while top-end intel stuff is rated at 3.7ish GHz, amd's is topped out at 2.8... and hefty price tags on those 2.8s, too.

I know I'm not doing anything that requires hefty power, I'd just like to get in on some of the new games that are coming out, but... I also don't want to have to upgrade again in another year or two to catch games then, either.
