Your orioles are Baltimore Orioles by the way. The people who make such decisions decided a bunch of years ago that Bullock's and Baltimore Orioles were really the same species and named the combination "Northern". Then they came to their senses and decided that they were wrong when they did that so they're once again considered seperate species. (They do hybridize though. I saw a hybrid oriole once many years ago.)
"Old" where bird guides is concerned is kind of like "old" where computers are concerned - by the time the newest one comes out, it is outdated. The AOU changes something or other just about every year.
