Book #11 -- Bill Streever, Saving Louisiana? The Battle for Coastal Wetlands, 185 pages.
This book is a snapshot of the state of coastal restoration in Louisiana in 2000, when the book was written. The author visits numerous sites of restoration projects and interviews the people involved -- the scientists, the engineers, the policy-makers, and others, recounting experiences and opinions that are as varied and fragmented as the landscape. The consensus seems to be that *something* needs to be done, but even the experts don't agree on what. It's an excellent introduction to the issues and a broad overview of coastal restoration in general.
