So I have been doing some beading again lately and have decided to set up a store to sell my stuff. Thus Shiny Things Creations has come into being. Take a look at the link and buy if you see anything you like. All proceeds go to the 'get Gwyn out of debt' fund.

A couple of comments:

1. more pictures. Specifically, when I clicked on "Necklaces" I saw no pretty pictures. I had to click on specific items to see anything. Not a great idea! Assume visitors have NO attention spans. :) I'd add pics to the ToC page, too, for each category.

2. Your prices are way too cheap. Really. Not only does this make people think less of your very pretty work, but when the postage is a serious percentage of the purchase price, people are less likely to buy. Honestly, for the earrings, I'd double the prices. They'd still be very reasonable, but you'd do better, the postage would seem more proportionate, and you can include a decent box with them which makes them more gift-y. (Rio's got a WIDE range of boxes, many of which are not pricey. I can wax more eloquent on the topic if you like.)

I know you didn't ask, so I apologize if I'm totally out of line here!

Also: you have a lovely design sense and feel for rhythm and color. Very nice work!

No, it's ok. I appreciate the comments. I guess I was trying to think of what I'd be willing to spend on some of the stuff, but then I'm a cheapskate :) And this is my first go at selling stuff, so I appreciate the advice of someone with more experience.

I think your prices may be OK for wholesale- if they're covering your materials with some bit of mark-up, plus labor- but they're really low for retail. Especially considering how pretty they are! I really doubt that anyone would make a purchasing decision against a $12 earring set who would have bought a $6 earring set.

And, oddly, a lot of times when people have upped the prices, they've ended up with more sales. There's this perspective that what one pays for something is what it's WORTH, and so a $6 set of earrings may not be as appealing as exactly the same earrings for more. People are weird! But- your pieces are really lovely, and I think you could get away with asking more- and maybe do even better thus- and so I mention it.

Feel COMPLETELY free to ignore any of this, though! You are a FAR better judge of what works for you and your customers than I can ever be!
