Strange cat sounds

Robin trills. It took a long time for me to come up for a word that matches the sound he makes, but that fits. He makes this sound in the back of his throat that is like a purr and a vocalisation at the same time. My cat Selina did that, or something similar. I would tend to spell it "Prrow?" if forced to, I think -- it was often interrogative, but occasionally there was an offended "Mrrt," also part purr, part vocal.

I'm glad I'm not the only Mrrt-caretaker. One of our cats is actually nicknamed Mrrt and most often referred to as "the Mrrt" because she makes that exact noise rather than a classic meow.

Our Manx trills too. She'll hold actual conversations with you if you're willing to sit and talk to her. It's adorable.

Smoke was like that too...it was like meh mrrrrrRRRRRRRReeeeeoW....mrrr? mrrr? Meh mrrrrRRRRrreeeeeow....it was sort of that trilling R that you hear in Spanish.

Many Siamese do that when they see a bird, short trills. Others will do the mrrt sound as a question.
