I had a deaf cat once and she was perfectly content that way. We learned to thump on the floor as a "here kitty!" and not to startle her when she was sleeping. I would hold her against my chest and put my mouth on her so she could feel me speaking. Otherwise, she purred and meowed like a hearing cat.

It's not that surprising you didn't notice. He's not an all-white with blue eyes, for instance! And I know a lot of people can be slow to figure out that their kid is deaf- it's just not something that is usually one's first explanation.

He's clearly doing great- and the tail thing is too funny!

It took a while before I realized Kitty was deaf, there towards the end. It doesn't mean you are a bad kitty mommy. Fionn is a lucky, lucky cat.

Yeah, I wasn't really serious about being a bad kitty mommy. Like I said, it doesn't seem to bother him any, and it's not like the other cats who can hear listen to me anyway ;)
