Came home today and all the cats were watching the wall intently. So I looked, and at first I thought it was a *huge* bug, but turns out it was a small gecko. With judicious use of a broom, my cupped palm, and a paper bookmark, I was eventually able to catch him without the cats getting their teeth into him and let him go outside ( Read more... )

Those little guys always find a way to get inside. Every night you can find one or two of them crawling along the walls outside the house, usually by the trash can.

Got nothing against them but I REALLY wish they'd stay outside.

Cute little critters, but we don't get them over here.

Doctor Who --

At the end of "Blink" when Sally Sparrow gives him the folder - he and Martha are rushing off with bows and arrows. Martha keeps muttering about 'migration' and 'hatching' and the Doctor tells Sally "Listen, listen, gotta dash. Things happening. Well, four things. Weeeelll, four things and a lizard."

I *loved* that quote, and it occurred to me that I really needed an icon of four things (random things) and a lizard. I'm actually going to have to remake it at some point -- when I first made it I was using really bad gif animation software - the stuff I've got now is much better and I can work with the timing of the sequence more.

I guess they're kind of like anoles are in the places I grew up. And like the iguanas you told me about in Mexico.

I get amused by people get all "EEEEE!!!" and run when they see anoles. I think they're cute and will pick them up without hesitation. They also like to fan their dewlaps at me. Great, now I'm attractive to male anoles. I'm destined to be a gay lizard.

I should definitely know better than to be drinking when reading a response from you.

I'd be fine with having geckos in the house if it weren't for the cats. In the first place - it makes for a short-lived house gecko, and in the second place, I don't fancy the idea of stepping in gecko guts when the cats are finished playing.
