So I saw both "Journey to the Center of the Earth" and "The Dark Knight" this weekend. The former was fun, but had too many factual errors that my nitpicky brain kept harping on. The latter was simply incredible. It was really quite sad to watch Heath Ledger in the role that indirectly led to his death -- he was absolutely *incredible* and there ( Read more... )

Funny, I saw both movies this weekend. I was lucky, I was able to turn off my brain enough to enjoy it without much in the way of nitpicking, just the occasional "Ok, they should be dead again" thoughts.

And yes, Heath Ledger deserves major kudos for this role. First time in a long time that I've been seriously creeped out by a villain.

I haven't seen any good evidence that that was the case.

Well, he overdosed primarily on sleeping pills and anti-anxiety meds, and he was quoted as saying in several interviews that the role disturbed him and gave him nightmares, so I guess that's what I meant by indirectly. I actually have quite a bit of empathy for what happened to him, as I almost overdosed on sleeping pills myself once. It's *very* easy to do.
