"Tadaima!" Yamada Ryosuke called as he entered his home. Behind him, Nakajima Yuto said, "Ojamashimasu" as he followed him in.

The two proceeded to the living room, straight to the couch where they both deposited their bags and flopped down. Yuto had frequently visit Yamada's house that he already consider it his second home.

It had been a very tiring week for the both of them because of all the promotion they did for their latest movie together. But finally, it was already the start of their hard-earned rest.

The two looked up when they heard footsteps. Yuto smiled when he caught sight of his wife, Suzuka.

"We're back." Yuto said, with a small grin.

Suzuka smiled at both of them and said, "Welcome back." She then approached her husband and gave him a quick peck on the lips.

"The children are already asleep." She said, and then turned to Ryosuke. "Mirai-chan, too."

Ryosuke nodded with a yawn. He wasn't surprised at what he heard. Mirai was on leave for the time being (at least until Yumi's 1st birthday), so all she does all day is take care of their three children; two of them being hyperactive (especially Yuta, he might actually be ADHD for all they knew).

"Yuta?" Ryosuke asked Suzuka half-playfully, half-exasperatedly.

"Who else?" Suzuka said, chuckling a bit.

Ryosuke nodded in understanding and stood up with a groan.

"Well, you two should rest, too. Long day tomorrow." He told his friends. "I'll also call it a night."

"Kay..." Yuto said tiredly, trying to stifle a yawn. "See you tomorrow."

"Good night." Suzuka said as Yuto took her hand and lead her to the guest room.

The two families had decided to spend the following day together and go to Tokyo Disney Resort for a simple Father's day celebration.

Since Yuto and Ryosuke's schedule were the same, and fortunately, Suzuka's were free for the weekend (she had just finished filming a drama), Mirai suggested that Yuto, Suzuka and Yuka just spend the night at their house so they could get an early head start the next day.

Ryosuke heard the door to the guest room closed as he turned to his boys' room. This was his daily routine. No matter how exhausting his day could be, it wouldn't be complete and he wouldn't let it end without him not checking on his kids. When he's away, he would at least call them to hear them say good night before sleeping.

Ryosuke wasn't very surprise when he saw Yuka (Yuto and Suzuka's daughter) sleeping beside his eldest. The two have been the best of friends since meeting each other when they were barely two.

He had to smile at how Aki's body was covering Yuka's in a very protective way. Aki had always been mature for his age and seems to like taking care of others. He had even claimed, when Yuta was born, that he would protect his little brother with his life. Mirai had told Ryosuke then not to let Aki watched shounen anime anymore. Not until he would be able to differentiate what's real and not, or at least not alone.

Ryosuke knew that besides his siblings, Aki includes Yuka-chan to his 'to-protect' list. (He really had one; Ryosuke saw it.)

Chuckling a little, Ryosuke crouched down and kissed his son's forehead. He moved back when Aki stirred, but he had already wakened him up.

"Dad..." Aki called groggily, still half-asleep. "Okaeri."

Ryosuke smiled, "Tadaima. Go back to sleep now."

Aki had only dazedly nodded and had gone right back to sleep.

Ryosuke moved to the other bed but it was vacant. He blinked, and touched the bed just to be sure (it was silly, but he did it without really thinking).

Ryosuke felt a little worried. Where could Yuta be?

Ryosuke got out of the room as quickly as he could without making too much noise. He hastens to his and Mirai's room. Maybe Mirai knows.

He opened the door to their room and was about to call his wife when he saw her sleeping soundly on their bed with their youngest son tucked under her arms.

Ryosuke felt very relieved and a little silly. He really should have expected it. Yuta was a bit of a mama's boy... but then again, maybe that was normal. He's still three years old so he wholly depends on his mom. Aki was certainly advanced in his development, and always surprised them whenever he acts like an adult inside a boy's body, so maybe he was the weird one.

But then again, Aki's first word was "mama" while Yuta's has been "Yuu." Umika had playfully told Ryosuke not to let Yuri take care of Yuta then because he might start being narcissistic. Yuto then said that the "Yuu" wasn't supposed to be "Yuta" but "Yuto" because, and quote "He loves his godfather very much." Keito had suggested that he might have picked it up from Johnny-san (because Yamada family had visited him just before that; and yes, he's still alive and kicking.) But Suzuka thought that it might just be an attempt on imitating his Aki-nii when calling Yuka-chan.

That was probably the reason. Yuta had been imitating Aki since he could do so.

Ryosuke neared his wife and son and leaned in to brush his lips against Mirai’s cheek and Yuta’s arm (the only thing he could reach since the boy was cuddling into his mom).

And then quietly, he stepped back and exited the room. This time, he made his way to his only daughter’s room.

Without making any noise, he made his way to Yumi’s crib. He was very much surprise to see that his little girl was awake.

She wasn’t crying. In fact, she was very quiet, but it doesn't seem like there was anything wrong.

“Hey, princess…” Ryosuke whispered, catching the attention of his daughter.

When their eyes met, Yumi smiled and let out a happy squeal. Ryosuke couldn’t help but laugh out of sheer happiness. These simple things… these simple interactions, simple gestures… these was the best thing about being a father. Just one look at his little princess and all his exhaustion would fade away.

“Did you miss me?” Ryosuke asked and Yumi laughed in reply.

Yumi then raised both her arms up, quietly asking her dad to carry her. Ryosuke obliged and that was when it happened.

-----

Mirai woke up with a start when she heard Yuta crying.

“Yuta…” She said, immediately completely awake. “What happened, baby? Did you have another bad dream?”

“Mama…” Mirai was called, but it wasn’t Yuta’s voice. Mirai just realized that Aki was standing by the bed. She was alarmed to see that Aki was crying, too.

“Honey, what’s wrong?” She tried to ask soothingly.

“Papa… he’s acting strange.” Aki sobbed. “I think something’s wrong with Yumi!” He cried.

Mirai tried to act calm for her boys. She tried to reassure them before the three of them went to Yumi’s room. But Mirai’s heart was pounding. She couldn’t really think straight.

When they reached the room, Mirai saw Suzuka and Yuka first. Little Suzuka was hugging her mom, also crying. The little girl looked scared while her mother looked a little confused and definitely worried.

Aki had immediately gone to his best friend. He was acting tough, wiping his tears away and trying not to cry again.

Mirai, with Yuta, entered the room and finally saw Ryosuke and Yuto. They had their backs on them and both were sitting on the floor. Yuto looked very hesitant as he told Ryosuke something.

Mirai’s heart almost stopped as she realized that her husband was actually crying, and holding their daughter very close to him.

Mirai’s cool vanished and she hurried to his side.

“Ryosuke. What happened?” She asked. She was so anxious it came out as a whisper.

Ryosuke, who was ignoring Yuto, finally looked up at the sound of his wife’s voice.

“Mirai!” He cried. “It’s Yumi! You won’t believe it!” He blurts out, tear streaming down his face.

“What?” Mirai asked, bordering on panic. “What’s wrong with her? What’s wrong with my baby?” Mirai felt tears prickling her eyes.

“Her first…” Ryosuke sobbed, overwhelmed with his own emotions. “Papa!” He declared.

“Huh?” The three adults said in unison. Mirai felt very dizzy all of a sudden.

Mirai looked at her daughter, but it doesn’t seem like anything was wrong with her. She was awake, but she wasn’t crying and she didn’t look red or dehydrated, there’s no wound or anything abnormal. The little infant was even smiling and stretching a hand to her.

“Papa!” The little girl suddenly said.

“SEE!!!” The father burst out. Once more, exploding into tears. “Papa! It’s her first word! She said Papa!! I’m so happy!!” He managed to say before he dissolved into tears.

Suffice to say, Ryosuke had slept on the couch that night for almost giving Yuto (the first to come at the scene) a heart attack, for almost giving Mirai an emotional breakdown, and finally and more importantly, for traumatizing the three kids. Ryosuke couldn't bring himself to care much, though. His daughter’s first word was ‘Papa’!
