I d'know, they look pretty healthy. As long as they don't uproot themselves and go staggering around the garden going "Brains!", I think I'm okay with them.

Clematises seem to be good at resprouting. I have one which always seems to die at the end of summer - wilted leaves and all - but comes back every time (so far, anyway).
