In which I am, apparently, creepy

Found out yesterday that Dad is undergoing congestive heart failure. So this explains his fuzziness, his pain, the edema, and his breathing problems. They've moved him over to the health center (the euphemism for the nursing home part of the retirement community he lives at) and are giving him oxygen, increasing the dosage of the water pill to try ( Read more... )

Is there really all this twin prejudice?
It never even occurred to me. People are strange and worrying.
I don't know what's going on in the writers' heads ...

I started making the angry face at True Blood with the first episode this season, and only made it to about episode 4 before I gave up. That show has always driven me a bit nuts, but this year, I couldn't figure out why I was still watching. Spoilers made me glad.

I'm sorry about your dad. D's dad was in the hospital yesterday for a heart procedure, but they had to cancel it because the coumadin had thinned his blood too much. We're nervous, too. {{{{}}}}

Ugh, Ringer. :P Meh. OTOH, yay, Justified vid!

(Are you watching Alphas?)

Surfed here through friendsfriends and saw your rant about identical twins and their portrayal in the media and just wanted to say "amen sister". I pretty much never watch twin stuff because it's usually done in a way that makes me cringe.

How in the world are twins creepy? I'd never have even thought about that. I am using my STFU icon for stupid people like that.

I am sorry about your dad. I've lost two people to various things that included CHF, so I understand. I do know it can be managed for long periods of time, though, so hopefully his caregivers can work out a balance of meds, etc.

I was watching All My Children today, a show which has had one of the most celebrated pairs of twins on TV, and I thought of your post instantly.

Veteran actor David Canary has played Adam and Stuart for decades. He's in his 70s and absolutely sublime. At any rate, Stuart was killed off in a soapy fashion a few years ago and, today, was miraculously revived (again, in a soapy fashion). And it was Adam, not medicine, who brought him back at the pivotal moment. As the doctors were frantic and giving up, a character cried out, "He needs the other half of his heart."

That, to *me*, is what twins are. Part of your heart.

So, yeah, fuck that fucking fuck.
