One thing that ( on a continuation of the whole 'elitism and the arts thing') bothers me too is when it comes to charities. You'll notice wealthy people tend to support and donate to things like ballet, theatre, symphonies, etc...and they aren't the ones who serve food in a soup kitchen or donate to pet and animal charities because well, those things aren't considered 'elite charities' or 'classy charities.' I can't tell you how much that irritates me and the snobbery associated with supporting those types of charities. I have no problems with people who do, but I don't think charities or your interests and hobbies should be classist either. If I want to go out and get my hands dirty helping folks in Appalachia, or I happen to enjoy monster trucks of whatever, why is that considered by some folks less than someone who reads Shakespeare or attends the opera?
