Rabies is definitely the top of my list for scariest disease of all, yes. On top of your list of the horrors of rabies, it is hugely, horribly, mind-shatteringly painful for the person who is turning into a shuffling bitey monster.

I've a good friend who is also interested in rabies. Some day, you must visit here and you will join us for tea and thorazine tuesdays, and talk about rabies. We often do.
