SHOOT ME NOW

Nov 22, 2010 16:56

Oh my Lord, I have got to get back to work and away from daytime television.

Oprah Winfrey has to be the most egotistical person on the planet. And the women
In the audience who jump up and down like demented puppets to get those "favorite things"??
I'm embarrassed for womanhood. Sheesh.

Flame away, I know it's not a popular opinion :)

Heh, the joys of working full time - no daytime tv, no soap operas. Yay!

Which Springsteen? I'm saving for "the Promise".

Any Springsteen is great Springsteen to me. :) I've been a fan for years and still maintain that the one time I got to see him was probably the best concert I've ever been to.

I was actually listening to "Thunder Road" which is my all-time favorite Bruce song. :)

I cannot STAND Oprah; I was turning it on to watch my local news which comes on right after Oprah where I live and saw her give everyone in the audience a fricking CAR, and I wanted to retch; omg, it's CREEPY how cult-like her sycophantic audience is and how INSANE they were going over STUFF. Oprah is a huge hypocrite in my book because she stands there saying she knows from experience that money can't buy happiness and blah blah blah and yet boy does she love to brag about her expensive favorite things and that one time she was flipping out over how cheap everything was at Target cause of course THE OPRAH never shops at effing Target with all the little people. I'm sorry, it just makes me crazy. Yeah, hurray for all the lucky fans who were in the audience to get those cars, but is that supposed to make all the millions of us out there in tv land who WEREN'T on her stupid show feel any better? Where's MY new car for no reason, sigh? I work for abysmal pay at a stressful job and take care of my adult, special needs daughter, have auto ( ... )

Sing it, sister! The kicker of it is that she "gives" away all those fantabulous prizes, but most of the winners can't keep them because they can't pay the taxes on them. What ticks me off so much with her is that every time she does something charitable, or nice, or whatever, she has to have attention and glory and praise for it. That's not my idea of giving.

Yeah, compare her to that elderly couple I saw recently on the news; they won millions in a lottery and the wife has cancer, too, but they gave like 3/4 of it all to charities and were terribly embarrassed that anyone even found out and interviewed them about it. They only kept enough to cover the wife's estimated medical bills for the rest of her life and said they wanted to help others with what was left. To me that is true giving of the spirit and true humility.
