I'm glad he has some movement, and that things seem to be slowly improving. Fingers crossed that that continues.

And that he is coping ok in the meantime.

I'm so glad you're there, and making these observations directly. It's so hard having to rely on everyone else's judgement and opinions, and now you can see for yourself and assess for yourself. That must be a huge relief, in addition to the obvious one of being with your son.

Oof. :( I hope hearing the helicopter gets less intensely painful for you.

Walking with a walker is great. Even if he ends up needing a wheelchair for longer periods of walking, having the ability to transfer to a walker (or a cane!) gives so much extra freedom.

+1. A wheelchair is a PITA when it's your only option.

The other guy in the accident didn't injure his spinal cord so he walked out a few days later and went back to work too soon. He has a lot of back pain and is struggling to recover, unable to work while he heals. He feels screwed. His injuries aren't as severe as my son's or as obvious, so he didn't really get the attention I think he needed. Plus, duh, idiot young man: they don't give themselves space and time to heal.

If you meant my other son, I answered that in my next post.

This is such good news, I'm so happy for all of you. His progress so far is so good!

Please make sure that when you get back home you schedule time to process this. Self care is important too.
