Except for the first sentence, I think it's perfect. I'd just delete that one sentence and get right to it. The sentiment you are shooting for comes across perfectly and it's a lovely thought and note.

I vote for sending it. Words never seem like enough but they are something, and a good method for reaching out. It's the reaching, behind the words, that means a lot.
