That was fast for chemo. I have been away so have missed things. May it not be too brutal and you are going to look lovely in those wigs.

Chemo is starting as soon as possible after the surgery. I'm healing well, so we're starting it at 4 weeks post-mastectomy. I've already had my echocardiogram and port-a-cath installed. I'm still tired and in some pain from the surgery but perhaps in another week I'll be ready.

When I was telling almost nobody about the cancer, I told my nextdoor neighbor. I know her to be someone who wears wigs and I asked her if she'd help me figure them out.

Boy, did she. She invited me over for tea and we went up to her bedroom where she'd set up a full-length mirror and gotten out over a dozen wigs. We tried them on, she showed me tricks, and I went home with six wigs, three of which I'm likely to actually wear. She also gave me tips on tying turbans and scarves.

Sometimes people tell me they're praying for me. If prayer has any effect, this is what it looks like: the right person coming to give me help at the right time. I felt so blessed.
