The sermon in church today was mostly about whales and God's relation to Job (creator, full stop), but the children's sermon today was about this hymn, and indirectly about the slaughter of innocents in a synogogue in Pittsburgh yesterday. There was an episode of Sex in the City, maybe in Season 3, where Samantha Jones got into a fight with some of her neighbors. It escalated and got ugly.

She had a "kiss and make up" party. It was pure genius: they just called the whole fight off.

Now, I'm not saying we should kiss a bunch of Incels so that they get the love they need, but I do think that escalating and escalating and escalating isn't serving us well.

FWIW, I actually *am* Jewish. Also a sexy athletic woman. I go to a Unitarian Universalist Church because my husband is NOT Jewish and that's a place that fits our whole family.

Both the house and senate are controlled by a party that represents states and districts containing substantially less than 1/2 the population (per 2010 US census), and the president lost the popular vote. The people you refer to are getting what they want without even having to be a majority, and without needing to negotiate.

It doesn't make sense. I think it's because they're being called mean names (like I did, above) and their feelings are hurt.

How were THEY supposed to know it was a problem to grab women by their pussies? It never caused anyone any harm before? It's all so confusing and awful for these men. Not allowed to be racist? Homophobic? It's how they were RAISED. It's simply infuriating.

Or because they just want to kill people, and this happens to be excuse du jour. A few decades back and the same people could get killed for being "uppity" or "greedy" or "going after white women/Aryan virgins". They got killed just as dead.

Those few guys you love? Even you, the person who loves them, just classed them with murderers. That just doesn't scream: "Best candidates for limited resources of pity and love in the world".

Um. This is getting straw-manny. ONE guy with a history of crazy behavior tried to assassinate the entire opposition leadership, and I don't think there's any evidence that it was because his feelings were hurt from being called mean names.

The old white Republican/Libertarian guys I love are not mad bombers, nor pussy-grabbers (even in their youth,) nor sadistic fucks who would laugh to see little children torn screaming from their sobbing mothers. They are neither stupid nor evil, and not all of them are uneducated, either. They're just wrong - the premises upon which they've based their world-view have been demonstrated to be erroneous - and they can't admit it because one of those premises is that Real Men Are Always Right ( ... )

No they don't. That's what they WANT, especially from sympathetic (and/or subservient) white women - they want to be confirmed in their perception that they are the victims, absolved of responsibility for the consequences of their selfish, short-sighted choices and bigoted attitudes, and enabled to continue doing just as they've done.Maybe it would be more pertinent to talk about what the white women doing the enabling 'need' - social and/or economic advantage, love and approval - and how they're obtaining it by throwing the rest of the world (including their own children) under the bus ( ... )
