Priority isn't plural

I am reading "Essentialism" by Greg McKeown and thinking about my Big Rocks. How to focus on the essential when I have seven core values? What is my main priority? Because, as McKeown points out, for several hundred years the word "priority" was only ever singular.

Fundamentally isn't really your one and only real priority your ongoing life satisfaction? All those other things you mention, ranging from caring for/about family to the decision to go to a party etc are really sub-priorities to support that life satisfaction.

I'm guessing there's all sorts of logistical reasons why Philly in October makes sense. But from where I'm sitting I'd love to go to Miami in November... ;)
