Getting knob and tube wiring replaced is an expensive pain in the ass... I think you made an awesome deal, to be honest. Especially if he'll let you file him an extension.

Oh, he's still charging me $3000 for the work, but he's willing to TAKE the job if I'll throw in tax preparation.

This only covers the second floor. We paid $5,000 to do the basement and first floor a few years ago.
