I enjoyed reading this having been to London many times. It sounds like you had a good first experience. I've been in London when SantaCon was happening and it's always a fun thing to see.

The Sloane Museum is just crazy!

Did you climb all the way to the top of the Dome viewing deck at St Paul's? That last bit of the staircase suspended inside the dome almost made me panic and I could barely continue.

The British Museum...well, there is so much there that it becomes a personal experience for everybody who goes there in one way or another.

Happily, the upper dome was closed. Going as far up as the Whispering Gallery was far enough for me!

We got lucky in the Sloane, I managed to sneak in behind a tour just when "A Rakes Progress" by Hogarth was being opened up for its daily half an hour of viewing. I didn't even know that was a thing.

We really did have a nice time. We marveled, later, that we only encountered one sullen clerk once. Everyone else was cheerful and helpful and nice. I could get used to that! But wait, no, I live in New England in the winter. No I can't.

sounds like a wonderful trip!

Did they have any public displays about WW1? e.g. 100 years or so since... ?

Yay, so awesome; what an utterly fabulous time! And what an excellent 'flying' account of it in just 15 minutes too; wow!

Oooh, Messiah at St. Paul's.... *swoonTHUD!* Bucket list indeed!
