Seeing the world

My sister's husband died this Fall. It was a wake-up call: shit is getting REAL. I have been so busy building a better tomorrow that I often forget that all we are guaranteed is today. As a financial planner, people have been bringing me their goals. Quite a lot of them sound *wonderful*, like things I want to do, too! I help other people achieve ( Read more... )

What I'm scared about gwendally December 2 2017, 03:05:28 UTC
I'm scared that the stock market will crash when I'm gone, and my 30 clients will be clamoring for me and I'll be *on vacation.*

I'm sad that a wonderful man I know just died and his funeral is set for when I'm gone.

I'm sad that I'll miss an annual event some of my friends are doing that falls that week-end, too.

I'm worried that the plane trip will be too awful - I hate being on planes.

Going on vacation is hard and scary and sometimes sad, but also exciting. It's hard for me to feel just excitement, though, when the other stuff is true, too.

You will do great! The museum is really lovely, and is well worth taking enough time to really devote to seeing it. I've been there three or four times and STILL haven't really seen it all. (I get caught up at the Egyptian galleries, because I read Omm Sety when I was young ( ... )

How exciting; have a wonderful time! London is awesome, and very easy to get around. NOTE: re your electronics, whatever kind you're taking with you, make sure you bring the adapters you'll need to charge them with British electricity. Enjoy!

most electronics these days don't care about voltage. It's just the pin configuration.

Consider a bulk charger like this... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L0KN8OS?aaxitk=SlEXeHHG5qTjTNt3vAJSpw&pd_rd_i=B01L0KN8OS&hsa_cr_id=8612921250801

Very useful at night, where most electronics seem to really just want to charge via USB.

Also a battery pack is handy. This one has done pretty well for me. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K8DUKH2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Enjoy the museum! May I recommend the podcasts of Neil MacGregor's History of the World in 100 Objects, to get you in the mood? (His current series, also using objects from the museum, is pretty good too.)

London is one of my heart homes in Europe and while I do love the British Museum I love the V&A above all else though it is a very different sort of place. But if all is new for you it will all be wonderful so enjoy enjoy ENJOY!

We're heading to England for Christmas ourselves...not London, though...Norfolk.
