The Loved One, by Evelyn Waugh. Dark and funny.

weird, my hubby and i were just talking about this book the other day. i haven't read it in about 15 years but it still remains one of my favourite books ever.

Also: not too sure how much you enjoy travel books, but Bill Bryson's Neither Here Nor There is a hilarious book about backpacking through Europe. Very, very funny.
