Why do I let my mother in my kitchen? Why do I ENCOURAGE my mother to go in my kitchen? (which is technically my parents kitchen, but w/e) Today she tried to boil eggs without water. Yes. My mother astounds me sometimes. She keeps trying to convince me she can't cook, and I keep trying to convince her that she just thinks she can't cook, but now...having been reminded of that time she left the kettle on so long all the water boiled away (and then yelled at me because I didn't smell it burning), I think I might just give up.

I can't even imagine. Everyone I know who says they can't cook ends up burning something slightly, or overcooking scrambled eggs so they're rubbery. I've never known anyone who managed to do something like boil all the water out of a kettle. I am amazed that someone could manage that.

My mother is rather amazing.

Oddly, though, she makes fantastic salmon. Fairly good macaroni and cheese, too, although I'm not terribly fond of any non-baked macaroni and cheese.
