This... is most certainly unexpected. [The device, as Juri tentatively had set it to record her voice, now picks up on a soft laugh, that melts away into silence. Only for a moment, though, before she begins again--humming smooth and elegant, like music.] Hmm ( Read more... )

[Not that she's the first to arrive after dead, but the attitude she displays has a way of almost immediately reminding him of Ichiru.]

Whether or not you want to believe any of this, death isn't taken into much consideration in this place.

[She's going to get along with your brother pretty well in a lot of respects at that, I imagine... That makes her ponder, though.]

Hmm. But it isn't the case for all, is that correct? Or is the dead as common as the living?

The latter is more correct, although I couldn't say I have an exact count of who's alive, and who can't return home. Those who show up here, having taken the offer to make a wish, were chosen completely at random.

I see.

It seems quite troublesome.

Unfortunately a number of things in Ukiyo are like that.

[Makes a soft ooooh~ at you.] Do tell, if you're so inclined?

The contract we all were tricked into agreeing upon, and the fact that you, nor any of us, have ever laid eyes upon that contract. Some don't even remember agreeing to one. The supposed debt we're made to work off, and the games that those running this place have a habit of playing.

[a faint shrug colors his voice. Explaining the situation and nature of Ukiyo to new arrivals isn't exactly a favorite past time of his, regardless to how he's been in the city now for almost six months. Especially when it comes to information surrounding the tattoo and its curse.]

It depends on what you can remember being told by the servants and head of your house, upon waking, and what you want to know first.

[There's also that piece about there being no way sure way to escape, but considering the woman's status, stating so doesn't feel relevant at the moment.]

Hmm. [She can tell he's not exactly ecstatic about the explanation but appreciates it, murmuring thoughtfully.] I recall some of these terms, though hardly much. That it's not always the case seems interesting, to say the least.

Honestly, I haven't quite had the chance to ask too many questions, just yet. I suppose turning to the servants first would be my best bet?

The servants can be helpful, yes, if you want the basic facts. If you want information and opinions about how strange and ridiculous Ukiyo can be, you'll want to ask around to any of us who have had to deal with it.

Information about your house will depend on where you're located and in what district. The only solid fact that we all have in common is we were tricked into making a wish, thus signing a contract. There's no telling how much or how little of what we were told about those matters are true, only that if you want to get by with as little problems as possible, you have to work for it. The position as an entertainer seems to be the primary occupation given to those displaced here, but other positions do exist and have been filled.

Additionally, names and statuses mean nothing to these people, no matter how high up a person was in their home world.

[She takes that all in stride, thinking for a moment, eyes closed and humming softly.] Well, then.

Thank you for the detail in that respect, nevertheless. I believe I understand a little better, though it's not particularly comforting.

Though names and statuses! I'll be glad to have those done away with. Pesky things, aren't they?

To some people, I guess so.

[A casual enough reply. Of course he's aware of how his own name very well may be known within the hunter and vampire society (even if only due to his parents), even if it isn't a subject that doesn't come to mind all too often. In truth, it's almost more of a hassle when within headquarter walls, with the number of other hunters who always seem so wary of him. Not that he can blame them for it.]

Regardless, there are a good variety of individuals here, some more helpful than others. If you have questions later on and don't want to turn to your house-owner or servants, all of us brought here can be reached through the fansuwoth network.

[Her tone softens.]

Mmm. Thank you for that. I do appreciate it; and I'll certainly keep it in mind.
