Is "experience" or "expertise" more important when evaluating a presidential candidate? Example: John McCain's recent statement about Iran/Al-Qaeda links betray his lack of "expertise" in spite of his alleged "experience". Discuss.

Consider that early in the Democratic race we were looking at Bill Richardson, Chris Dodd, and John Edwards as solid candidates for the ticket because all of them do have considerable experience in higher level politics. Unfortunately, since they failed to standout from the crowd, and we ended up with Clinton (experience, because of her time in the Senate and eight years working behind the throne, so to speak) and Obama (expertise from his generally level-headed demeanor and, so far, astounding ability to deflect even the stupidest of attacks).
After eight years of Bush, people will take expertise over experience. Hands down.

McCain has stated numerous times within the last 8 years that he knows nothing about economics - a major issue right now. Personally, I could care less about Al-Queda being linked to Iran. We need to focus on problems here for right now.
I don't think any of the candidates have enough expertise in any of the issues to be the absolute best president, but anything is better than Bush right now.
/sad that Edwards dropped out... :(
