This is dedicated to the students who really do have ADD and ADHD and struggle with it. It is also for those who support those with ADD and have stood by our side for years. If it's anything from mild to extreme ADD or ADHD, your pain is understood. Here are laws that govern in dealing with those who are ADD.

NEVER MESS WITH THE PILES!!!

I am almost 100% certain I have a mild form of ADD. Medication would probably help, but I am terrified of anything fucking with my brain more than it fucks with itself. Nearly all of these apply to me as well.

It's at least worth a try some day. Meds are magic, but sometimes I feel it takes away some of my spunk.

I'm willing to work through the fog. Medicine scares me. SCARES THE CRAP OUT OF ME. :(

I do the same thing with eye contact. I'm not distracted so much as awkward. That is, I find it very awkward to hold eye contact with someone for too long.

I find myself having tot force myself to make eye contact with people, especially when eye contact is super important. It's so awkward!

See, I'm kind of anxious about it, because I've been around deaf people, and with sign language eye contact is super important. It's considered incredibly rude to NOT make eye contact, like the equivalent of covering your ears and going "LALALALALALA". That sort of made me realize how much I DON'T make eye contact, and now I worry about it. Thanks, deaf people, for making me slightly more neurotic!

Starbucks boy had nice eyes, though

Just a comment here that you could actually substitute Asperger's Syndrome into any of the rules in place of ADD/HD. ADD is on the autism spectrum and there is a very very fine line between it and Asperger's which can be extremely mild. Interesting post. And remember too, if dealing with a person who has Asperger's syndrome that you would apply the same rules. And try to be very understanding.
