If their new project is related to Gurren Lagann, I doubt it'd be a sequel. In interviews I've seen, they mostly talk about the possibilities of side-stories for the minor characters or stories from during the seven-year timeskip whenever they're asked if they're going to make any more. So I think it'd probably be a spin-off.

A continuation of the drama CD would be awesome though. *_*

Yeah, I don't think a sequel would be nearly as awesome X)
It wouldn't have the same amount of epic.

But I dunno... I think Gurren Lagann is so perfect as it is that I'm a bit apprehensive about any sort of 'add ons' to the series, you know? The two or three OVA's they released weren't exactly up to par (imo) x__x'

But hell, you never know! They might surprise us!

True, the episode that came with the DS wasn't very good. D: But apparently the main staff from the TV series didn't work on that (in an interview, Imaishi said he hadn't even looked at it once), so that's probably the reason behind it....

i think it was at that anime style party. they mentioned a project coming up by 2009 (er, "within the next two years," but i'm just assuming 2009)

it's mentioned here.

That part is fake. I was reading the 2ch threads when all that info came out (and even translated half of it), and I don't remember seeing an announcement like that. I think there was a lot of misinformation/mistranslations getting mixed in with the real stuff (like the one with "Adiane used to play volleyball with Nia"- what it really said was they were originally planning on putting a volleyball fight in episode 12 or something like that).

Plus I think if such a thing were announced, I doubt the Japanese fandom would still be going "I hope they make a spin-off/sequel/movie someday! We don't care about Eva plz make more Gurren Lagann!" like I've been seeing.

A lot of fake info gets posted on 4chan (like the copypasta Anonymous posted below). It pisses me off and it's half the reason I've been translating stuff myself. :/ I try not to believe any of it unless I can see the source myself (or see it posted on 2ch...they seem more reliable to me).

From the hands of the animators of Gainax comes the latest artistic venture into the world of Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann®! Not unlike the legendary Robot Carnival or the recent The Animatrix, "Visions from the World of the Drill" presents 5 different 20 minutes ideas by legends of animation inspired by the characters and concepts from this story of heroism and sacrifice ( ... )

I... doubt this is real, because no sources and all that, but I think this would make for some great fanfiction.
