I did see Lars..., and it was an excellent film, and the scene you just quoted from was one of the best scenes. It does a great job of summing up the marks of manhood from the perspective of the non-believer. The points he makes give faces to the sometimes more abstract descriptors selflessness, honesty, fidelity and humility.
