Guppy brings Alex Rider through his bathroom, down the stairs, and into the hallway.

"I'm just going to explain to Fran what's happening, feel free to have a seat in the living room."

A small boy peeps around the door from the living room and looks at Alex.

Right, then. Alex spots the boy almost immediately and offers him a slightly nervous wave. He'd rather not... scare any three-and-unders, and he's not sure how Dr. Sandhu's kids are going to react to someone new in the house.

Fry watches Alex cautiously, then flaps one of his hands anxiously. Unexpected houseguest...

"The emperor penguin is native to Antartica." he babbles, without eye contact, falling back on television quotation to fill the awkwardness.

- He gets the impression that this could be, um, difficult. Maybe. He's fairly certain three-year-olds don't generally fall back on random zoology facts when confronted with strangers. "That's right."

"Of course it is." Fry says, glancing up at him for a brief moment of eye contact. Why would he say something that wasn't right?

He goes back into the living room, flapping both his hands a little. His mother comes out of the kitchen.

"Hi, you must be Alex." She smiles. "Come on in, call me Fran, Frogspawn, whichever works for you."
