So I went to the beach today - I love not working this summer. Both my 86-yr-old landlord and the 70-odd-old lady down the street recommended the Salem Willows to me, so I figured I'd go there instead of where I usually go. Now for those of you landlocked, on the west coast, or south of New York state, let me tell you a bit about New England

You're so funny - you don't need to go NJ to get a good beach! You need to come down into RI and check out the Narragansett beaches. I promise you will get nice sandy beaches with sea grass and dunes!

A few of my favs:
Scarborough - if you like looking at overly large Italian men with a lot of gold chains and women who shouldn't be wearing those tiny bikinis... but love a good size wave and fun rip tide!
Sandhill Cove (aka Roger Wheeler) - for a nice relaxing family friendly day with calm seas.
Narragansett Town Beach - if you're feeling preppy and want to check out hot surfer guys.

I've been to Roger Wheeler, actually (in my pre-car days - go RIPTA!), and it was quite nice. The only thing is, if I'm headed south, I may as well go to the Cape, right? I'm too miserly with gas these days to even go as far as Marblehead. ^.^

Ten hours later, I've got serious itchies and the skin has peeled off the bottom of my feet.

Oh, Jesus! The baby Marlboro wasn't enough to clue you in? Those things are deadly. What a scary beach!

In other news, I'm eating peanut butter toffee coated popcorn (with milk chocolate drizzle). God clearly exists, or someone impersonates him well.

Mmm, sounds delicious. Although re: God, he clearly exists & is trying to kill you with sewage, & has stooped to using old people as his messengers. He has no sense of humor--he's really pissed about the holy Maechen thing. Sigh. Well, enjoy the summer, because you are DOOMED.
